Grrr!
Posted at 06:27 AM

My head is pounding like crazy... I think I'm going to have a terrible, terrible headache... ;->

Why Lord? Nagpapaka-bait na ako a...

Excited pa naman akong umuwi ng maaga sa apartment para maka-tulog agad... that way, I'll be able to watch Resident Evil this afternoon.

I'm In The Zone
Posted at 04:24 PM

I'VE UPDATED MY RESUME. Well, it never hurts to do so, you'll never know when it will come handy, right?

Besides, I'm always on the look-out for better employment opportunities. Hehehe!!! <***conspirational wink***>

Anyway, after three weeks of delaying the dreary task of coming up with a more detailed accounting of my current duties and responsibilities in the work place (past and present), I finally had the courage (and the time, of course!) to start stringing the appropriate words. What's more surprising for me is that I finished the ordeal in under two hours, which is more or less, a feat for me because I usually can't stand writing even for half an hour during the day since I'm usually in my best element at night... don't ask me why please.

On the other hand, I've come to decide that I'll start attending seminars and trainings again. I haven't taken one in the past seven months (imagine that! my Life Coach will probably kill me if he finds out), except the trainings given by my present company, which basically deals on client specifics and updates of my account.

Since I was able to complete all the programs offered by PSI Asia, I'm actually interested in gathering more information about OCCI (I forgot what the acronym means... it's supposed to be Occupational something, something). From what I've heard, this company is located in Ortigas. This means that I have an assignment to do this week. Hmmm...

***I am happy... and feeling sooo accomplished.

*****50 pages to go and I'll finish reading Dan Brown's Angels and Demons. [Again, thanks to Bittersweet for sending me the soft copy of the book. Mwah! Mwah! I miss you!!!]

***Yawn! Hmmm...***
Posted at 12:20 AM

THE HOURS... NO, NOT THE MOVIE. I can't believe that I spent sixteen straight hours in the office the other day!

In the 22 months that I've been employed, I'm VERY, VERY sure that this is the longest time that I was holed in the four corners of the office. Talk about setting records, huh?

I swear, I was literally dragging myself home this morning after my training ended at 7am, when I'm usually home by 5am (since my shift ends at 4:30am) and already asleep by 6:30am or 7am.

**********

TARDY. I slept through the alarm that I set for 5pm. Imagine to my dismay when I woke up at 9pm instead. Argh!

I'm in big, big trouble... am already late for 1 hour and 30 minutes... and the clock keeps ticking. I still have to take a shower, dress up and commute to the office.

Why do I have this premonition that this is going to be a rough and trying day?

***I feel tired... I need more sleep... I want to go back to bed. Huhuhu!

A Thought from Arrakis
Posted at 05:21 AM

Here's something that I picked up (AGAIN) during my Sales Performance and Enhancement Program (SPEP) training yesterday...

"I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings obliteration.
I will face my fear and let it pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone, there will be nothing.
Only I will remain..."

Litany Against Fear, Bene Gesserit
The Dune Series by Frank Herbert

My collection of Frank Herbert's books is presently gathering dust somewhere in my apartment... probably in the boxes under the sink. I think I might re-read those one of these days...

The Universe is Telling Me Something
Posted at 04:50 AM

THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS COINCIDENCE. Barely three days after I updated my Resume (as well as the Resume that I saved with www.jobstreet.com and with www.jobsDB.com), I have received calls from three recruitment firms and two established call centers based in Ortigas.

Isn't that something!

Honestly, the only reason why I updated the information that I have in my Resume was just because of pure "ka-OC-OCan" (obsessive-compulsive).

However, since they've shown interest and actually called to set an interview with me for a Team Leader and/or a Team Supervisor position, then why not? Let's see how this goes...

I can smell something in the wind... and its the smell of money. Wehehe!

Can't wait to go to Ortigas this Monday!

Viva La Revolucion!
Posted at 05:52 AM

Since I missed the UP Film Center's special screening of I Am Cuba (directed by Mikhail Kalatozov, who also shot The Cranes Are Flying in 1957) early this year, I naturally did not let another chance to watch the film pass up.

With just four hours of sleep, I braved the scorching noon day sun with EX #2 to The Titus Brandsma Center to make it in time for the 1 p.m. film showing.

Here's the gist: I Am Cuba/Soy Cuba is a propaganda (e ano ngayon kung propaganda film, aangal ka???) film which originally came out in 1964 and follows four separate stories ---

1.) a prostitute in Havana who is mistreated by her client;
2.) a farmer who is thrown off his sugar cane fields by a greedy landowner;
3.) student revolutionaries fighting the police;
4.) and the rallying of Castro's forces in the hills of Sierra Maestra.

The film is quite notable for its artistic shots with a camera that is almost always moving and soaring over the sugar fields, swooping in and out of urban buildings, following characters down narrow streets --- almost always in unbroken, seamless transition.

I Am Cuba is a film that I can relate to because it actually reminded me of my "aktibista mode" when I was still active as a student leader (naks!) in UP.

My only regret though about the whole experience is not knowing before hand that they're also showing Alingawngaw ng mga Punglo right after I Am Cuba. Haaay!

All in all, my sleepless afternoon was well spent.

Here's Another Movie That I Watched
Posted at 09:02 PM

While watching Zhang Yimou's House of Flying Daggers yesterday, I had this funny feeling that I've seen the film before (back in 2000), only during that time the title of the film was Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Sounds familiar?

In general, I enjoyed the movie. It's pretty good actually.

Well, I like watching Chinese movies in the first place.

You'll see the same breathtaking cinematography which has become Yimou's trademark in the movies... but don't forget the soulful, poignant and vibrant music, plus of course, the heart-stopping fight scenes.

Speaking of fight scenes, like the one among the bamboos, was obviously recycled and improved "just a tiny-winy bit" so as to give the impression that you're not watching the same scence from that other movie.

On the other hand, I like the tragic, star-crossed lovers "ala Romeo and Juliet" twist between Zhang Ziyi (***sigh! ang ganda niya***) and Takeshi Kaneshiro. I nearly cried at the end of movie... hmmm!

***Oo na! call me sappy and OA... I don't care... it's not my problem anymore, it's your problem anymore!!!

The movie actually made me wish that my Baby was with me when I was watching it, and not my high school classmate who kept on asking me "what just happened?" Duh!

[with matching pa-cute]

The Demise of Chona
Posted at 05:13 AM

I was feeling a bit sad yesterday because my officemate, Francis, who created Chona In The City (http://www.chona.blogspot.com) decided to stop writing the journal.

Actually, when I read his closing entry last Saturday... I was just telling myself that it is just temporary because it may be that he (Francis) is still adjusting to the pressure(s) and the heavier work load of his new job.

But no!!! I learned Monday afternoon that he erased the entire archives and the newer entries... huhuhu! Bakit???

Why do you have to be so cruel?

Is this really your final answer? [Nangungulit lang po, huwag po sanang magalit!] :D

What A Stupid Quiz!!! (But I Posted It Anyway) :P
Posted at 03:55 AM

Phoenix
You are Feng-huang!

Mythological Background: The phoenix is the highest
and most revered force in the skies. It's
associated with power and prosperity, because
it is the king of all birds. Mars brings about
intense love, passion, and even aggression. It
is given the best traits of all beasts - its
different parts come from different animals.
The five mystical colours in its plume are
black, white, red, green and yellow. The
Phoenix is a very auspicious aspect in Chinese
mythological culture; and its symbol is used
only with royalty. Japanese Name: Suzaku.

Viktor
VICTOR: You are victor!

1400-years-old, he is the supreme Vampire overlord
who has been sleepong to restore his power.
Selene trusts him as she trusts no one else and
daringly awkens him when no one else believes
her discovery of the Lycan plot to destroy the
Vampires. Viktor is tall, powerful, haught, and
ostentatious. And ruthless. He had his own
daughter, Sonja, executed when it was
discovered she was secretly involved with a
lycan leader. Many have elevated him to
celebrity status. Many others wish him dead.
But Viktor has his own secrets and a dark side
no other Vampire has ever known ... he may have
been the one who began the ancient battle
between Lycans and Vampires.

vamp
You are Form 9, Vampire: The Undying.

"And The Vampire was all that remained on
the blood drowned creation. She attempted to
regrow life from the dead. But as she was
about to give the breath of life, she was
consumed in the flame of The Phoenix and the
cycle began again."

Some examples of the Vampire Form are Hades (Greek)
and Isis (Egyptian).
The Vampire is associated with the concept of
death, the number 9, and the element of fire.
Her sign is the eclipsed moon.

As a member of Form 9, you are a very realistic
individual. You may be a little idealistic,
but you are very grounded and down to earth.
You realize that not everything lasts, but you
savor every minute of the good times. While
you may sometimes find yourself lonely, you
have strong ties with people that will never be
broken. Vampires are the best friends to have
because they are sensible.

***Ahahaha! This is funny. This should personify all call center agents, especially those that are assigned to work in the graveyard shift... and that includes me!!!

ex dragon
You're like a dragon. Dragons were the terrible
creatures that lived in large caves and often
swooped down out of the sky and stole sheep,
cows, and even people from the countryside to
eat. They were gigantic with spikes along the
back and tail. Some had wings, legs, and the
ability to breathe fire. Even in the Bible, the
Levithian resembled something like a dragon so
they may have actually existed. Dragons were
loyal protectors that were more powerful that
any other animal that ever lived. Some where
peaceful and others just wanted to destroy. The
pest control for dragons were Knights who were
appointed the task of killing a dragon. Some
stories tell us that eating the dragon heart
let you claim victory in any battle or eating
the tongue would allow you to win any debate.

***Duh! I thought this survey is supposed to explain why my personality is similar to that of a dragon... I wasn't expecting a historical accounting of what dragons were...

Sana Maulit Muli***
Posted at 03:09 AM

***(Note: This entry should have been posted last Sunday night. Unfortunately, since Tabulas was performing unscheduled AND un-announced system maintenance (hmp!), I wasn't able to do so. Anyway, here it is...)

Ang tanga ko talaga. Ang torpe ko talaga.

Tanga na nga, torpe pa!

Paano ba naman, on my way to work tonight, may naka-sabay ako sa MRT na kahali-halinang nilalang.

Paano nga ba 'to nagsimula?

Ah! Ganito kase yung nangyari kanina...

Pagkatapos magkasalubong ang aming mga tingin... parang wala lang, we then went on to the "waiting platform."

*Sigh!*

Tapos uulitin na naman yun all over again.

Nampotah!!!

Naka-upo lang pala siya sa tapat ko at naka-tingin sa akin... obviously checking me out while my eyes were closed.

I sheepishly smiled and in pure pa-cute move, looked the "bootylicious" creature in the eye also. Then I grinned.

Since You-Know-Who was looking at me from head to foot (as in kinilatis po talaga ako), I decided to do the same (it takes two to tango, my dear).

Kaya ayun, I dissected the kahali-halinang nilalang.

I took note of the brown rubber shoes... black socks... dark blue jeans... garrison belt , gray-blue shirt, arrow-shaped lips, slightly Chinese eyes, rosy cheeks, naughty brown eyes and carefully combed, shiny, black hair. *Sigh!*

What the...!!!

Sabagay, I'm not in the habit naman talaga of asking a stranger's name and cellphone number. Ows!

Pero dumating talaga sa punto na kumuha na ako ng isang sheet ng yellow na Post It from my planner nang mag-stop kami sa Ortigas station, at habang bumibiyahe na naman kami papuntang Shaw Boulevard station ay sinulat ko 'to...

"Hi! You're so cute... would you like to trade contact numbers? Here's my cellphone number (0916) 6XX-XXXX"

Haaay!!! Better luck next time, Jones.

Sana lang, makita ko pa uli siya...
